Govt invites applications for incentives under PLI 2.0 for IT Hardware
The window of applications under Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme 2.0 for IT hardware will open for the applicants from 1st of June. Recently, the government approved PLI scheme 2.0 for IT hardware with a budgetary outlay of 17,000 crore rupees to boost country’s manufacturing capabilities and increase exports under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.
The tenure of the scheme is six years and the expected investment will be over 2,400 crore rupees. It is expected that this will create more than two lakh employment opportunities including 75,000 direct employments.
Electronics manufacturing has witnessed consistent growth with 17 percent compound annual growth rate in last eight years and this year it has crossed a major landmark of 105 billion US dollars.
The PLI scheme for IT hardware will promote large scale manufacturing in laptops, tablets, All-in-One PCs, servers and ultra small form factor devices and contribute significantly to achieve electronics manufacturing turnover of approximately 300 billion US dollars by 2025-26. Semiconductor design, IC manufacturing, and packaging are included as incentivised components of the PLI Scheme 2.0 for IT hardware.
