Govt PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar celebrates World Tourism Day

 

JAMMU : Commerce Department of Post Graduate College for Women Gandhi Nagar today celebrated World Tourism Day under the banner of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

Principal of the college Dr. Sangita Nagari, patron of the event, spoke about the importance of tourism and travelling and emphasised that the day is celebrated to promote the tourism sector by nations. Travelling to different destinations helps us to relax, detoxify our minds and achieve peace from it.

Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce) was the keynote speaker of the event. She started her note with a quote that the intelligence of the person who travels to different countries is associated with the scholars who expand just as a drop of oil expands in water. She added that the primary motive of the event is to nurture awareness about the importance of tourism to demonstrate social, cultural, economical and political values across the world. ‘Tourism for Inclusive Growth’ is the theme of the World Tourism Day, 2021.

Virtual tours were organized by the students for the participants of the webinar to demonstrate that travel is an investment in oneself. The world is a book and those who don’t travel read only one page.

Shriya Bharti enthralled the audience with the beauty of Australia, Anjali showed the panorama of France, Gurleen Kour showed the beauty of Switzerland and Simranjeet Kour fascinated with the beauty of Jammu and Kashmir.

The audience fully enjoyed the virtual tours of these beautiful places. The event was organized by Prof. Mamta Kundal and Prof. Rashmi.
