Govt Polytechnic Kathua organises webinar on ‘Application of 3D printing in medical science’
Kathua: Government Polytechnic College Kathua today organized a Webinar on 3D Printing and its application in Medical Science.
The resource person for webinar was Er. Ved Raj Khullar and Er. Sumeet, Assistant Prof. Mechanical Engineering Department DAV University Jalandar.
In their presentation, they explained in detail the concept of 3D-printing technology used to create perfect scale models of patient-specific anatomy and structures. This allows doctors and nurses to study a subject from multiple angles and find a solution to the medical problem. He further explained the role of Engineers in 3D technology from designing, fabrication and testing of 3D models which provides the surgeon with a physical 3D model of the desired patient anatomy that could be used to accurately plan the surgical approach and design the surgical tool based on patient-specific anatomy. During the one-hour interactive session, the students raised many queries related to the scope of engineers in medical science which were well explained by the speakers. The webinar was attended by the faculty and students of various Polytechnic Colleges of J&K.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Er Arun Bangotra, the Principal Govt. Polytechnic Kathua, who emphasized on the importance of such online webinars in the current pandemic situation to make students aware of various new technologies and trends in engineering. Er. Rishabh Gupta, Lecturer, Government Polytechnic Kathua conducted the proceedings of the session and presented vote of thanks.
