GPGCW Gandhinagar hosts poster making competition on Blood Donation
JAMMU : The Red Ribbon Club of Government PG College for Women, Gandhi Nagar in association with J&K AIDS control society, H&ME Department, Jammu today organised an intra-college poster making competition on the topic “Blood Donation” under the patronage of Principal, Dr. Sangita Nagari.
Students of the college showed active participation in the event and prepared engrossing posters on Blood Donation. The participants were judged by Assistant Professor Botany Harjeet Kour and Assistant Professor, Hindi Poonam.
The first position was bagged by Vaishali Choudhary semester 2nd and Ananya Jain semester 2nd secured second position, while third position was clinched by Mrinalini Pathania semester 2nd.
The winners were also given cash prize worth Rs. 1000 for first position, Rs. 750 for second position and Rs. 500 for the third position.
In this event, students prepared self-made posters highlighting the importance of donating blood and the need to stand with this cause. An adequate amount of blood is needed in all health care facilities to meet the urgent need for patients facing trauma and other lifesaving procedures, such as blood transfusions – which saves millions of lives each year.
Principal of the college lauded the efforts of the participants and emphasized the need of organizing more such activities.
The event was organized by Prof. Revika Arora, Nodal Officer, Red Ribbon Club and co-ordinated by members of red ribbon club Prof. Neelima, Prof. Manmeet, Prof. Abhinav, Prof. Ambica, Prof. Kusum and student committee; Ivanka Raman, Student Nodal head and Shalini Rasgotra, Community head.
