Gram Swaraj: 1048 eligible beneficiaries enrolled under PMSBY, PMJJBY

 

RAJOURI  : To build on the encouraging response to the two very affordable and convenient insurance schemes-the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 9, 2015, a special enrolment drive was today launched by 61 participating Banks here under the aegis of Gram Swaraj Month.

The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) provides accident and disability cover of up to Rs.2 Lakh at an annual premium of Rs.12 and the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) offers a term life cover of Rs.2 Lakh at an annual premium of Rs.330.

As part of the drive, special camps are being organised in bank branches to reach out to the pool of eligible Bank account holders who are yet to be enrolled under these schemes.

The lead bank Manager of JK Bank informed that a special camp was organised on the direction of the Deputy Commissioner on April 5 was in JK Bank branches where 1048 eligible and left out persons were registered under PMSBY and PMJJBY.

“A similar camp will be organised on April 8 to further facilitate the beneficiaries”, he added. He further informed that any person who intends to register himself or his family member under the said scheme can directly approach bank branches on any working day.

He further said that total enrollment under both schemes is 155243 and efforts are being made to saturate with the schemes.

Moreover, the Department of Social Welfare also organised special awareness camps under Nasha Mukt Bharat. Weekly Block Divas:
