Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon flagged off in Coimbatore

New Delhi:  The  grand finale of the Smart India Hackathon- 2022  program was centrally inaugurated by the Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan . Prof. Anil D Sahasrabudhe – Chairman, AICTE, Mr. Sunil P P, Head of Education, Space and NPO for India & South Asia at AWS, Dr. Anand Deshpande, Founder & Chairman of Persistent Systems, Smt. Monika Garg, Principal Secretary for Higher Education Uttar Pradesh and Hon’ble Minister of State for Education, Dr. Subhas Sarkar addressed the students of SIHH 2022 and their mentors, participating in the Hackathon from different nodal centers across the country.

Smart India Hackathon (SIH) is a nationwide initiative by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell to provide students a platform to solve the pressing problems of the government, ministries, departments, industries and other organizations. SIH has been acclaimed as the world’s biggest open innovation model and it inculcates the culture of product innovation and problem-solving among students. SIH is conducted every year since 2017 in two formats i.e. SIH Software and SIH Hardware Editions for higher education students.

Prof. Anil D Sahasrabudhe – Chairman, AICTE, said, ” This year Smart India Hackathon – Junior has also been introduced for school students to build a culture of Innovation and problem-solving attitude at the school level. The scope of the Smart India hackathon has been widening with every passing since its launch in 2017. The increased enthusiasm among participating students and problem statement provider organizations could be seen in their growing participation over the years. Every year SIH is impacting lakhs of students and provides them a national platform to test their educational learning in real-world problem-solving. It also aligns their interest toward Innovation and entrepreneurship.”

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has been interacting with the student participants of the Smart India Hackathon every year since its inception. PM interacted with the students this year again on 25th August 2022 evening.

Each Problem statement has a winning amount of Rs 1 lakh. Under the student innovation category three prizes of Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 75000, and Rs. 50000 will be provided to the winning teams.

Dr. Amit Dutta, Director- Student Development Cell ,  AICTE said, ” SIH 2022 brings the next generation evolution by inclusion of new methodology to inculcate the culture of startup and innovation ecosystem across different age groups. ”
