Greenwich University Recognized Among Global Top 100 for Sustainability
This week, the 2024 Times Higher Education Impact Ranking (THEIR) results were announced. The University of Greenwich came joint 89th out of 2,031 universities, within the top 5% of participating universities.
Greenwich ranked 2nd in London and joint 22nd in the UK, 1st among University Alliance members and 4th amongst post 1992 universities.
The rankings are a sustainability metric that captures information focused on how institutions are contributing to the targets that underpin the UN SDGs.
Progress is scored against; the impacts estates and operations have, the policies institutions have in place to deliver social and environmental good, metrics relating to teaching, accessibility, equality and how organisations tackle social and environmental issues.
The rankings also recognise the contributions research makes in supporting the UN SDGs, capturing research publication figures and citations of the excellent and impactful research that academics publish.
Professor Andrew Westby, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Knowledge Exchange), Chair of the Sustainability Management Committee said,
“We are rightly proud of this result and incredibly proud and grateful for our staff who are contributing to the UN SDGs, every day, at Greenwich.
“We know that our contributions to delivering the SDGs illustrate the sustainability responsibilities we take and through this ranking we are recognised globally.
“We thank our community for their continued action and support.”
