Griffith University extends its warmest congratulations to Bachelor of Pharmacy graduate Georgina Morris who has received The Pharmacy Guild of Australia / MIMS Intern of the Year 2022!

The announcement was made at the Australian Pharmacy Professional conference on the Gold Coast.

Head of the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences Professor Shailendra Dukie said: “We are incredibly proud of all that Georgina has achieved.”

“She is an outs

tanding ambassador for our school and university and is a credit to the profession given her passion for improving health outcomes in remote communities.”

Pharmacy and Pharmacology Placements Officer Susie Patton commended Georgina on her accolade.

“Georgina is a Kamilaroi woman, completing her Bachelor of Pharmacy with distinction in 2021,” she said.

“During her third year at Griffith, Georgina completed a rural placement in Bowen where she is currently working as a pharmacist.

“This is an amazing accomplishment for one of our graduates and is testament to Georgina’s hard work while studying here.”

Georgina is passionate about working in rural community pharmacy and hopes this award will inspire other students, interns and registered pharmacists to forge a path beyond the metropolitan areas.

Georgina’s love for pharmacy stems from the continuity of care she has with her local community, especially First Nations people.

Griffith also congratulates Master of Pharmacy graduate Ben Lumsden who was a finalist in this category.

Mr Lumsden’s employer at Pharmacy First Mount Isa, Alumnus Leigh Houldsworth, describes Ben as a wonderful pharmacist and they are pleased he chose to relocate to Mount Isa and work with them.
