Gujarat: Distribution of third installment to begin June 15, with social distancing

New Delhi: In a bid to ensure Antyodaya families do not face difficulty in the prevailing situation during unlock-1, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani decided to distribute the third installment of food grains free-of-cost to 68.72 lakh ration card holding families, covering 3.36 crore people under National Food Security Act (NFSA), in June 2020 also.

The state government had earlier also distributed 36.18 lakh quintal of food grains free to 68.80 lakh Antyodaya and poor people during lockdown owing to the spectre of global pandemic novel coronavirus COVID-19 in April, and as much again in May, total worth Rs.1,844-crore as per market price.

The third installment of food grains will be distributed from June 15 to 25, staggered over ten days as per the last digit of the card, from 17,000 government recognised fair price shops, maintaining social distancing, wearing mask. If anybody is left out can get it on mop up round on the last date.

Apart from this, the government will distribute 3.50kg wheat, 1.5kg rice and 1kg gram per family under Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna free of cost in June.
