Gujarat to host 25th National Children Science Congress
Gandhinagar: Let’s do something with science and technology for societal development – should be the main motto of our young students in their career – expressed Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Minister of Education, Govt of Gujarat at the launch programme of 25th National Children Science Congress at Gandhinagar.
Addressing a jam packed auditorium with child scientists and their guide teachers, Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama urged the students to bring their best in creative projects and assignments which could be the foundation for their future career.
Describing the benefits of S&T, he explained that we cannot live now without the use of S&T in our daily life. From health and hygiene to our home amenities, from transport to telecommunication, from food and nutrition to hazards mitigation, everywhere S&T has a creative role.
He requested the students to take interest in exploring the world around them and to bring excellence in their approach.
Shri Chudasama also felicitated 28 child scientists at this occasion who represented Gujarat state in previous year children science congress and formally launch the 25th National Children Science Congress in Gujarat.
The focal theme of this silver jubilee edition is “Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development: With special focus to Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities” and Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST) is the host to organize this programme during 27 – 31 December 2017.
Shri Jaydrathsinhji Parmar, Minister of State for Higher and Technical education explained that the Government is all set to strengthen its policy and practice to make more scientists and researchers. He informed about the opportunities available in startup, skill development and Make in India programmes.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Dhananjay Dwivedi, Secretary, DST, Govt of Gujarat expressed that childhood is the perfect time for exploration and research. If we can provide right opportunity to children, our children can do wonder.
He also informed that the children science congress provides an ideal platform for the budding students to work on various creative projects which provides confidence to them in achieving more in other sectors.
Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Advisor & Head, Technology Development and Transfer and State S&T Councils, Govt of India, expressed that understanding, knowledge and practical skill in science learning and exploration can lead a child scientist to a professional researcher in future.
Er Sujit Banerjee, Director NCSTC-DST Govt of India and National Coordinator of NCSC programme in his address informed that the Silver Jubilee edition of National Children Science Congress will be bright in colour and healthy in content. The programme will witness the participation of 700 child scientists from each districts of the country as well as students from ASEAN countries.
The programme was attended by more than 1000 students, teachers and coordinators from different districts of the State. After the formal launch, the district coordinators, academic coordinators and evaluators got an orientation about the project planning, enrollments process and evaluation practices.
