Handicraft department organises Awareness/ registration camp for Artisans at Kulgam
Kulgam: The Department of Handicrafts and Handlooms, Kulgam (Handlooms Wing), Monday organized a daylong Artisan awareness cum registration camp at Danew Wazirpora, here.
The camp was inaugurated by Additional Deputy commissioner (ADC) Kulgam, Showkat Ahmad Rather.
On the occasion, the ADC said that the objective of organising the camp was to make artisans aware of various welfare programmes and schemes of the department.
He appealed to the artisan fraternity to come forward and get themselves registered with the department so that they can avail the benefits, without any difficulty for their overall socio-economic development.
Assistant Director Handlooms, Muqbil Lateef Hussain, apprised the participants about the schemes run by Government for upliftment of girls and other unemployed youth, besides providing information available with the department for the welfare of Weaver community in general.
In addition to it, an on-spot registration process was conducted for weavers, by the department.
Later Weaver Registration Cards and Cooperative Registration Certificates were distributed by ADC and AD Handlooms & Handicrafts, Kulgam.
Functional Manager DIC, LDM J&K Bank and representatives from JKEDI, RDD and other banks also attended the function.
Some finished goods produced in Training Centres run by the department in the district, were also displayed.
