Handicrafts and Handloom Department Jammu targets to cover 2150 artisans under credit schemes this fiscal

 

Jammu: Handicrafts and Handloom Department has set a target of covering 2150 artisans/ Weavers under different schemes in the current year (2021-2022) with a credit influx of Rs 8 Crore

In all, 1500 Artisans/Weavers will be covered under Credit Card Scheme, 325 weavers under Pradhan Mantri Weaver Mudra Scheme and 300 Artisans / Weaver under Financial Support Scheme which shall infuse credit inflow of about Rs 8 crore into the Sector.

The information was given at the Divisional Level Project Committee (DLPC) meeting chaired today by Director Handicrafts and Handloom Jammu, Dr. Vikas Gupta here at Jawaharlal Nehru Udyog Bhawan.

The district officers were directed to encourage artisans /weavers to come forward to avail the financial support being provided by the government under these schemes.

Earlier, the functioning of Block Level Clusters viz. Lohai Malhar Kathua, Mahanpur, Kathua, Batroo Ukhral, Ramban and Moungri, Udhampur sanctioned by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India under Centrally Sponsored Scheme-National Handloom Development Programme was reviewed.

The Meeting was attended by Joint Director Handloom, Pardeep Singh Manhas; Deputy Director Handloom, Ghulam Rasool; Assistant Director, Weavers Service Center, Srinagar, Tahir Hakim; Assistant Director Handloom, Udhampur, N.D Verma; Assistant Director, Kathua, Nishta Nayyar; Project Manager Handloom & Handicrafts Corporation, Satish Thaploo and Secretaries of Implementing agencies of Block Level Clusters.
