Handicrafts department organises Awareness Camp for Artisans at Gagron

Gagron: The Handicrafts department, Shopian today organised an interaction cum awareness camp for Artisans at Gagron Shopian to aware the participants regarding various welfare schemes and programmes of the department.

The District Development Commissioner, (DDC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya was the Chief Guest of the event.

While addressing the artisans, the DDC said that the Camps are being organised to aware the artisans about various handicraft activities and schemes associated with them.

He directed the concerned officers to ensure that the welfare schemes percolate down to the target groups and urged the entrepreneurs and societies to avail the benefits of the departmental schemes. He also emphasized on the need to preserve the heritage crafts of J&K and elaborated the steps being taken by the department in this regard.

The Camp was also addressed by experts of the handicrafts including KVIB Officers, HTOs who apprised the participants and artisans about latest techniques, mission and welfare programmes being implemented for the welfare of the artisan community.

On the occasion, the artisans were felicitated with certificates and were assured of full support for betterment and upliftment of their crafts.

Speaking at the event, the Assistant Director Handicrafts emphasized the role of the handicrafts in the income generation besides preservation of our rich cultural heritage.

Meanwhile, registration cards were distributed among the artisan trainees for deliverance of various benefits of the department.

The Handicrafts Training Officers, representatives from the Bank and Handicraft Trainees and Artisans attended the camp.
