Handicrafts &Handloom Department Samba organises mega awareness camp for weavers

SAMBA : Department of Handicrafts and Handloom Samba on Monday organised a one day mega awareness camp for weavers and artisans here at Block Rajpura, Panchayat Madoon.

A large number of people, artisans, weavers and SHG members participated and were made aware about various departmental schemes.

Speaking on the occasion, JD Handicrafts Jammu, Tilak Raj Thapa sensitized the people about the scope of handicraft and handloom sector in the growing economy of the UT.

Further, he added that people should come forward and avail the different departmental schemes and explore the avenues of self employment. He urged the people to register with the department to avail different services.

In her welcome address, Assistant Director Handicrafts and Handloom Samba, Niharika briefed the gathering about various activities undertaken by the department in the district. She made people aware about the ongoing departmental schemes such as Credit Card Scheme for artisans and weavers, PMWMY, Karkhandar scheme, Financial Support Scheme etc and how to avail the benefits of these schemes.

Addressing the participants, DDC member Asha Rani said that such awareness camps are of great help to the society and resolved to motivate the people to get maximum benefit from the government schemes.

BDC Chairman, Radhe Sham appreciated the efforts of the department for providing self employment opportunities to the people of the district.

The programme was also attended by BDO Rajpura, Ms Shivani Deonia and BDO Ghagwal Ms. Sheetal Hans who assured that they will also publicize these departmental schemes with the people of their blocks and work in convergence with the department.
