Handloom Department organises awareness camp in Block Sathra

POONCH: An awareness camp was today was organised by Handlooms Department regarding schemes of Handloom department like Karkhandar scheme, Credit Card Scheme for weavers, New Education Scholarship Scheme for children of weavers, Bima Youjana, SAMARTH Scheme of GOI, Cluster development programme of National Handloom development corporation, Ministry of Textiles, GOI and various others schemes

About 35 people participated in the camp aimed at providing information about various initiatives undertaken by the department for the betterment of the artisan community and to advise them how to avail benefits of these schemes.

The officers at the camp highlighted the details of the Credit Card Scheme, financial support schemes of National Handloom Organization of Development scheme (NHDP) for Cooperatives or Self-help groups and also shared their knowledge with the artisans.

During the camp, the teams of the handloom department registered 14 weavers on the spot and also motivated them to adopt new technologies and modern looms instead of Old age pit looms.

During the camp, the concerned officers said that this initiative by the government aims to make artisans aware of all schemes for the welfare of weavers and for the development of craft and handloom products.”
