Handloom Deptt. Organizes awareness camp at village Kulwanta
Udhampur: To aware the local Weavers/Artisans about the developmental schemes run by the department for their socio economic uplift, one day publicity cum awareness camp was organized by the Handloom Development Department, here at village Kulwanta of district Udhampur.
District Development Council (DDC) members, Basantgarh, Ashri Devi; Ramnagar-I Mool Raj; Block Development Council Chairperson, Kulwanta, Sushma Devi, Block Development Officer, Kulwanta, Reeta Rani and J&K Bank Manager, were the special guest on the occasion.
Over 200 weavers/Artisan including Sarpanchs, panches and general public of adjoining areas participated in the awareness camp.
While speaking on the occasion, Assistant Director Handloom, Narsingh Dayal Verma informed the Weavers and Artisans about various developmental schemes run by the department for weavers and artisans community. He asked the Weavers and Artisans to avail the benefits of the schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Weavers Mudra scheme, Credit card scheme, Education scheme, Loan for purchase/renovation/ modernization of looms, Sharp capital loan, Formation of cooperative societies, etc. He further stressed that the weavers should adopt new technology and develop new designs by replacing the old type of pit looms to modern fly shuttle looms so that the quality of products and their earning is improved. During the camp weaver cards and certificates were also distributed to the pass out trainees on the occasion.
