Harvesting of vegitable crop begins at Krishi Bhawan Jammu

 

Jammu: Director Agriculture Jammu, K. K. Sharma, while inspecting the different interventions being made under the Vegetable Improvement Scheme at Krishi Bhawan Jammu today inaugurated the first picking of Bitter- Gourd (Variety Palii), Cucumber (Malini) and Bottle Gourd (Variety Babbu-Gosha) being grown under the bower System.

The Director also inspected the Medicinal & Aromatic plants unit where Mint, Ashwagandha, Lemon Grass, Rose Grass, Bach, Brahmin, Giloy, Clove Tulsi have been grown for demonstration. He directed the staff to raise the Mint, Brahmi & Ashwagandha plants in polybags to popularize among the growers. He also inspected the harvesting operations of Spinach (Beet-07) raised as seed crop at JPAE Farm.

It was informed that under Agronomist Vegetable Improvement Scheme, Chilly (Bebo), Brinjal (Shayamali), Tomato (Abhilash), Brinjal (Nav-kiran), Bhindi (Kum-Kum), Bhindi (Diana) and Sweet Corn are being raised for the demonstration purpose for the visiting farmers/ vegetable growers groups , self help groups, NGOS and students.

It was further informed that 200 vegetables seedlings of different vegetables crops including Cucurbits, Chillies, Tomato and Brinjal are being grown in the Grow bags to popularize roof top cultivation in Urban areas which is gaining high importance during current COVID 19 times.

Rohit Singh Baloria Floriculture Development Assistant, Arun Jaral Farm Manager JPAE Farm, Surinder Radotra, AEA G. A Wani AEA, Raghupartap Singh, AEA, Bhopinder Singh Farm Supervisor and Omparkash Farm Supervisor were also present on the occasion.
