Haryana CM awards Lotus Petal Foundation the 2nd Vishwakarma National Skill Excellence Award-2021

 

Gurugram : Lotus Petal Foundation, a Gurugram based NGO has been conferred with the prestigious 2nd Vishwakarma National Skill Excellence Award-2021 for their contribution to Innovative Teaching Pedagogy in Higher Education in Institution/Industry Category. The award was given away by Sh. Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister, Haryana on the third foundation day of the Shri Vishwakarma Skill University (SVSU).

The non-profit organisation has been recognised for the Pratishthan Learning Centre, a high impact intervention in education by Lotus Petal Foundation, providing five-year fast-track education and skilling programme for underprivileged children living in urban and semi-urban areas of Gurugram and surrounding areas, to get them ready for formal sector jobs.

Speaking on the occasion, Kushal Chakravorty Founder, Lotus Petal Foundation said, “The recognition given by the Sri Vishwakarma Skill University to our Pratishthan Program speaks about the meticulous and detailed selection process of the prestigious university. The vision of SVSU has the potential to change the landscape of how the youth will be employed in the years to come. The significance of skilling the youth, supporting them with earning opportunities while pursuing their higher studies are the need of the hour. Academia with built in vocational training prospects empowers the young adults with expertise that makes their job prospects brighter. At Lotus Petal, through the Pratishthan program, we make an out of school teenager, job ready with a specialised skill that matches the market requirements. We would like to thank the Sri Vishwakarma Skill University for identifying the innovation and distinctiveness of the teaching pedagogy of Pratishthan Learning Centre and honouring us with the Vishwakarma National Skill Excellence Award 2021. The Pratishthan Learning Centre programme run by Lotus Petal Foundation is focused on underprivileged children who are lagging in the education system by a few years due to fractured schooling or who dropped out of school for unfortunate situations. The programme integrates underprivileged students, back into the formal school environment and prepares them to complete Grade 6 to 10 within three years, enabling them to pass Grade 10 at the right age. It follows an exclusive curriculum which is specially designed for enabling fast-track education. Additionally, one-year vocational skill training is provided to all students under their Jeevika Programme to encourage aptitude based personal growth of the students. Communication, personality development, language ability, soft skill training (for ease of job hiring) and etiquette development are all integrated into the curriculum to encourage holistic development of the child.
