Haryana State Board of Technical Education (HSBTE) signs MoU with Jindal Stainless

 

Panchkula: With the vision to empower India’s youth by upskilling them, Haryana State Board of Technical Education (HSBTE), Panchkula signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Jindal Stainless today with the joint objective to promote technical education in the field of stainless steel technology and applications. For this, they have agreed to institutionalize stainless steel courses in all polytechnic colleges in Haryana state. The MoU was signed by Secretary, HSBTE, Mr Rajesh Goel and Senior Vice President, Manufacturing, Jindal Stainless (Hisar) Limited, Mr Vijay Bindlish in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary, Technical & Higher Education, Govt. of Haryana, Shri Anand Mohan Sharan (IAS) and Director, Jindal Stainless, Mr Vijay Sharma.

Lauding this initiative, Additional Chief Secretary, Shri Anand Mohan Saran (IAS) said “This collaboration with Jindal Stainless can prove to be a milestone in creating a stainless India. With this partnership, our faculty and students will get hands-on industry experience, insights, and training. We congratulate Jindal Stainless for this initiative and look forward to working together to prepare future-ready professionals.”

Speaking for the stainless steel industry, Director, Jindal Stainless, Mr Vijay Sharma said, “As leaders in the Indian stainless steel industry, we consider it our responsibility to foster an ecosystem for growth and adoption of stainless steel. This MoU will pave the way for a series of professional courses for students and equip them with technical exposure on stainless steel applications in the industry. We are thankful to the Haryana government for encouraging this partnership, and look forward to working with HSBTE and developing an ecosystem of practical knowledge, innovation, and sustainability.”

As per the partnership, two modules on stainless steel will be launched. One compulsory module will be launched for the fourth semester students of mechanical engineering students of all government polytechnics in Haryana. This module will be a part of the “Materials and Metallurgy” (MM) subject and will have 10 lectures. This will be institutionalized across all 25 polytechnic colleges in Haryana, benefitting more than 3,000 students every year. The courses are planned to be introduced from March 2022 onwards.

In addition to this, a 3-credit 42-lecture elective course will be launched at Government Polytechnic (GP), Hisar for the fifth semester mechanical engineering students.

The equipment required for conducting the practicals on stainless steel fabrication will be installed by Jindal Stainless at GP Hisar. The students, in addition to job opportunities, will also gain hands-on industry experience, insights and training.

Among other officials present at the ceremony were Dy Secretary, HSBTE, Mr Hitesh K Arora; COAF, HSBTE, Mr Sultan Singh Dahiya; Dy Secretary, HSBTE, Sh. Mahender Singh. Officials present from Jindal Stainless were AVP, Human Resources, Mr Praneet Kumar; General Manager, Sales & Distribution, Mr Ranit Rana, and DGM, Legal & External Relations, Mr OP Agarwal.

Under the broader aegis of Stainless Academy, Jindal Stainless’ initiative to create and sustain a stainless steel ecosystem, Jindal Stainless has collaborated with 11 eminent institutions of the country including IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT BHU, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, NIT Trichy, NIT Suratkal, NIT Rourkela, NIT Durgapur, OP Jindal University Raigarh, MNIT Jaipur, etc. Additionally, the Company has upskilled more than 11,000 grass-root fabricators and welders through its nationwide fabricator training programmes and workshops directly and in association with along with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
