HDB Financial Services plants trees in Hyderabad under its Mission Million Trees initiative
Hyderabad: HDB Financial Services planted over 5000 trees in Medchal Forest, Hyderabad under its Mission Million Trees Program on Friday, November 26th, 2021. HDB’s Mission Million Tree program strives to restore and retain ecological balance through scientific plantation of native species. Under this program, the Company has planted and nurtured over 150,000 trees across since December 2019.
The trees planted in Basuragadi Village, Medchal have medicinal and fruit bearing properties, and would serve as livelihoods to the farming communities. Apart from this, the trees planted will act as carbon sinks, sequestering carbon emissions to mitigate rising pollution and help retain ecological balance.
The plantation was carried out by employees and associates of HDBFS. Each tree planted will be collectively taken care of by the local communities, plantation partner SankalpTaru Foundation and financial guidance of HDBFS.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr Venkata Satish, Regional Manager, South, HDBFS said, said, “HDB takes pride in continuing its CSR commitment to the society through the Mission Million Tree initiative. The initiative is aimed fostering an ecological balance and also providing livelihoods to the farming communities”.
