HDD hosts awareness camp on Govt schemes for Artisans, weavers

Ramban: Handloom Development Department, Ramban today organized one day awareness camp at village Jatgali of block Rajgarh to sensitize weavers and artisan community about the welfare package and various centrally sponsored schemes launched for the benefit of Handloom weaving sector.

BDC Chairperson, Sonika and DDC Member, Mohammad Zargar made the participants aware about the welfare schemes besides advising them to take benefits from them.

During the camp, PRIs and over 150 weavers and artisans from different parts of the catchment area were acquainted with schemes and activities of the handloom sector by the Resource Persons. These include credit card scheme for Artisans and weavers and financial support scheme for artisans and weaver cooperatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Director Handloom, Narsing Dayal Verma also highlighted various other welfare schemes like Pardhan Mantri Weaver Mudra Scheme, Education scheme, loan for purchase/renovation / modernizations of looms and share capital loan.

He further stressed that the weavers should adopt best practices and adopt new design also replacing the old pit looms by modern fly shuttle looms so that the quality of products and their earning improves.

The Department also distributed weavers cards among the weavers/ Artisan community, besides installing stalls of Handloom and Handicrafts- made products.

The people of the area appreciated the department and requested for organizing more such camps in the remote areas.
