Capacity Building Programme concludes
ALIGARH : The two-week Capacity Building Programme, organized by the Department of Geography, Aligarh Muslim University, concluded with a valedictory function chaired by the chief guest, Prof Shafey Kidwai, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences.
Prof Kidwai discussed how education is understood from different perspectives by scholars from various disciplines. He said that quality research is the cornerstone of education and the country’s wealth generation is not solely because of the industry, but it comes from the quality of research.
He urged the young faculty members and research scholars to strive for integrating content and pedagogy together and creating a link between research and progress in society.
The guest of honour, AMU Registrar, Mr. Mohammad Imran (IPS) highlighted the emerging fields in research like green energy, food processing, robot technology and digital platforms. He said that AMU’s Department of Geography is an ideal department for multi-disciplinary research as it caters to several fields including Remote Sensing, Geology, Economics, etc.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof. Nizamuddin Khan, Chairperson, Department of Geography, presented an overview of the workshop and the takeaways from it. He said that the workshop, designed with both the theory and practical sessions, would help researchers to carry out quality research work and overcome potential challenges.
The Coordinator, Dr. Mumtaz Ahamed presented a comprehensive report of the programme which ran from August 3 to August 14, 2024, and served to enhance the research skills and methodological expertise of participants coming from various disciplines.
He said that a total of 31 sessions were organized during the programme with 18 resource persons from different disciplines of Social Sciences and Humanities delivering lectures to 30 participants, including 10 from AMU. The participants belonged to different disciplines and hailed from different states, conforming to the guidelines of ICSSR, New Delhi.
