Health and awareness camps at AKTC and two schools

Aligarh : A team of doctors from the Department of Moalejat, Faculty of Unani Medicine conducted a free diabetes screening health camp at the A K Tibbiya College (AKTC) and awareness camps at Al Noor and Green Crescent schools.

The camps were held in line with ‘Hamara AYUSH Hamara Swasthya’ initiative of National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) to mark the nation-wide ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations.

At the AKTC camp, people showing early signs of diabetes were given free screening for comprehensive health checkups including Random Blood Sugar (RBS) tests to check glucose levels. They also underwent several other medical investigations to check blood pressure, bone marrow density, body composition analysis, metabolic syndrome and COPD among others.

“Objective of the Health camp was to screen the patients and provide them with health related awareness. Some patients were also recommended for further treatments at hospital settings”, said Prof Tabassum Latafat (Chairperson, Department of Moalejat), Prof Tanzeel Ahmad and Prof Badrudduja Khan.

Prof Tabassum, Prof Tanzeel and Prof Badrudduja supervised the free screening of patients with resident doctors.

Dr Jamal Azmat, Dr Mursaleen Naseer and Dr S Javed Ali counseled the patients for a healthy diet and lifestyle.

At the Al Noor School in the Pahasu House area, Dr Mursaleen Naseer counseled the students for healthy living and Dr Hina Muqeem delivered an awareness lecture on ‘Health and Hygiene’.

Sharing health tips with the school students, Dr Mursaleen and Dr Hina apprised them about why personal hygiene is essential for personal well-being and social health.

“Keeping good hygiene, not only safeguards those around you from suffering illnesses, but also helps to prevent the spread of infections, illnesses, and bad odors”, they said.

Dr S Javed Ali (Programme Coordinator) said, “The camp witnessed participation of a large number of school students and teachers”.

Similarly at the Green Crescent School in the Civil Lines area, Dr S Javed Ali interacted with school students to guide them about healthy living and Dr Azra Parveen spoke on ‘Health and Nutrition’

They encouraged students to eat a balanced diet and to stay away from junk food.

Dr Mursaleen Naseer was the programme Co-ordinator of the awareness camp at the Green Crescent School.
