Health camp organized to spread awareness about breast cancer
ALIGARH: The Department of Niswan wa Qabalat, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College (AKTC), Aligarh Muslim University, under its outreach programme, organized a free health screening and awareness camp for women at Ramgarh village, Panjipur, in collaboration with Dawakhana Tibbiya College, AMU and SOCH NGO, marking the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Prof Badarudduja Khan, Principal, AKTC, appreciated the efforts, adding that such camps should be organized in different nearby villages to make the people aware of the breast cancer.
The Chairperson of the department, Prof. Suboohi Mustafa emphasized the importance of self-examination of breast and routine screening for early detection of breast cancer. She said it is one of the most common cancer and the women need to be educated about self examination to check the disease in early stage.
Dr. Fahmeeda Zeenat coordinated the camp attended by a dedicated team of doctors, postgraduate students and interns.
More than 100 patients were counselled for early diagnosis of breast cancer along with consultation for other gynecological issues like leucorrhoea, STDs, menstrual disorders, anaemia, allergies, antenatal issues and blood check-ups. Free medicines were also distributed.
