Health camp to observe TB Day

 

Aligarh: Faculty members and resident doctors of the Department of Community Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) provided free medical and counseling services to poor communities in the Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC) health camp at Firdaus Nagar to observe the ‘World Tuberculosis (TB) Day’ on the theme, ‘Invest to End TB, Save Lives’.

“People from lower economic strata were provided with varieties of medical specialised services and awareness was raised for TB elimination during the health camp,” said Prof Anees Ahmad (Chairman, Department of Community Medicine).

Dr Suboohi Afzal (CMO -UHTC) said: “Since millions of people, mostly in low and middle-income countries continue to die of TB, it is imperative to raise awareness among the vulnerable communities”.

Dr Saleem Mohd Khan, Dr Zafar Equabal, Dr Simon Jude, Dr Digvijay Gupta, Dr Absar Ahmad, Dr Zubda Sama, Dr Wareesha Beg, Dr Zishan Hashim with senior faculty members conducted screening of people with TB symptoms.

Free medicines and instructional pamphlets were also distributed.
