Heriot-Watt University: University community comes together for Celebration Week 2022
It has been a week to remember for staff, students and visitors across Heriot-Watt’s global campuses.
The University’s annual Celebration Week returned with a bang on Monday June 13. Celebrating Heriot-Watt’s inspirational people and their contributions, it is the first time in two years the hugely popular event has been held in-person due to previous social distancing restrictions.
A host of activities were enjoyed across the University community over the course of six-days. Festivities got underway with a staff photoshoot in Malaysia to mark the 10-year anniversary since the opening of the Putrajaya campus. Other events included the arrival of a group of school children to the Edinburgh campus who were shown some cutting-edge robotics and learn more about artificial intelligence from expert academics.
There was also the Celebrating Our People Awards, which recognised the outstanding contribution made by staff across Heriot-Watt’s five global campuses, during the pandemic.
In Dubai, there were stress-busting workshops as well as a special event recognising alumni and industry partners.
A Community Family Friendly Fun Day at the Edinburgh campus brought the curtain down on a packed week giving staff and students the opportunity to come together with members of the public to enjoy a raft of entertainment suitable for all ages.
Reflecting on the Week, Professor Richard A. Williams, Principal and Vice-Chancellor at Heriot-Watt University, said: “It has been a thrilling week of activities across our global community and an opportunity for this University to recognise the outstanding contribution of our staff and students.
“Our community is central to our objectives as set out in Strategy 2025, and in our ongoing success as a leading, outward looking, international university.”
