Heritage and SDGs Symposium for young people
UNESCO in collaboration with the Natural History Museum in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and Reach A Young Soul (RAYS) Trust are organizing the 7th annual Environmental Youth Symposium to be held from 14 to 16 October 2020. Due to the challenges posed by the COVID- 19 travel restrictions, this year’s version is going to be hosted online with two competitions targeting high school and tertiary students.
Competition 1: High school learners virtual poster-making competition centered on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 (sustainable tourism).
Competition 2: Tertiary students will submit abstracts for presentations on heritage and SDGs focusing on Goal 2 (zero hunger), Goal 6 (clean water and sanitation), Goal 8 (sustainable tourism), Goal 11 (sustainable cities), Goal 12 (responsible consumption and production) Goal 13 (climate action) and Goal 15 (terrestrial ecosystems). A coaching session on writing academic papers will be organised prior to the symposium.
