Hilti becomes a Premium Partner of the School of Business

Hilti was founded in 1941 in Liechtenstein by Martin and Eugen Hilti. It designs, manufactures, and sells advanced technical solutions, programmes and services for the construction industry. Hilti operates globally in over 120 countries and employs 30 000 people. More than two out of three Hilti employees are in daily contact with customers. Globally there are over 250 000 daily contacts with customers – counting all different channels and also the customers’ sites.

In Finland Hilti employs 250 people mostly in sales and sales support functions. It is ranked 15th in the Great Place to Work list in the category of medium-sized companies; in Europe the company ranks 14th among large international companies.

‘We are a growing, both locally and internationally, solution sales organisation and the people are at the core of our operations. Finnish academic knowledge is highly valued internationally and Finnish experts both in business and engineering have great opportunities to progress in our organization. This is why the collaboration with Aalto University is important to us and we are excited to deepen the cooperation,’ Jyrki Martikainen, CEO of Hilti Oy (Finland) says.

The School of Business Partnership Programme offers a channel for collaboration with Aalto University. Taking part in the programme provides the companies valuable visibility on the campuses. The partnership also offers opportunities to contribute to teaching and to participate in activities which facilitate recruiting. The programme also helps companies get direct connections to researchers and professors.

Hilti has already signed up for a very popular and work-life oriented capstone course in the spring 2021 where Master’s students near graduation provide solutions to companies’ practical challenges. The course combines the skills of students in management, international business, entrepreneurship, and business law in different projects.

There are also already plans in place to meet students to help them in improving their job hunting skills and to offer them jobs and internships. Hilti has its own sponsored lecture hall in the Otaniemi campus.

Towards wider cooperation
In the past, Hilti has participated in the ARENA Career Fair of the School of Business for dozens of times and is therefore quite known among students as a potential employer. With the new partnership agreement, the cooperation is expected to develop even deeper and wider.

The Dean of the School of Business Timo Korkeamäki warmly welcomes Hilti to the partnership program.

‘We are very pleased for the chance to collaborate closely with Hilti. The cooperation is very important for the school to stay informed about the current needs of business life and to provide interesting real-life cases for our students to solve. As an international family-owned company, Hilti also complements the partner portfolio of the school really well.’

Through the School of Business Partnership Programme, companies get to engage in long-term collaboration with Aalto University in many different fields. Developing their employer brand, contributing to teaching, and cooperation in various projects are all examples on possible forms of cooperation. There are 12 companies involved with the programme at the moment.
