Himachal Pradesh Governor appreciates effort of RPGMC to fight COVID-19
Shimla: Governor Bandaru Dattatraya today held video conferencing with the Principal, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College Tanda, Kangra along with the head of the departments to discuss the COVID-19 situation and Institutional priorities, objectives and innovations with future visions to combat the pandemic.
On the occasion, the Governor said that Tanda hospital has shown better results during last few months in dealing with COVID-19 patients which is appreciable and added that although the Hospital was not designated as COVID-19 Hospital yet, the authorities were putting all efforts in dealing with the situation. He said that initially the hospital had the testing capacity of 107 samples but today they were testing more than 700 samples and suggested to increase the testing facility. He also directed to motivate the blood donors and coordinate other volunteer groups in organizing blood donation camps. He expressed satisfaction that the hospital has 1000 unit of blood storage capacity and there is no dearth of blood in the bank.
Shri Dattatraya directed them to focus on quality food to patients and also to bring more efficiency in transportation of the patient from one hospital to another. He said that tracing of COVID-19 patient was important and advised them to start a separate department for plasma donation. He said that it was important to register the name of persons who came forward to donate their plasma. He also expressed satisfaction that the hospital has a sufficient number of ventilators besides a facility of oxygen supply pipeline.
The Governor conveyed his contentment that parallel services are running in the hospital and more than 1455 patients were registered daily and 600 were admitted in the hospital. He also expressed satisfaction that the institute is providing e-Sanjeevni OPD facility to the patients through six consultants.
During the conferencing Dr. Bhanu Awasthy while making the presentation about the initiatives taken by the RPGMC, Tanda to fight the corona pandemic, said that they were testing COVID-19 samples of Kangra and Una districts. He said that they were not compromising on routine healthcare services being delivered and also ensures care to COVID-19 patients. He said that the institute had started with one Flu clinic and now they were running five counters and added that they had developed the first isolation facility for COVID-19 patients in January 2020 only. He said that they are planning to add a surveillance component in the form of establishing sentinel sites in the institution and its rural and urban health training centres.
