Himachal Pradesh Governor stresses on developing special plan to stop migration of tribals
Shimla: Governor Bandaru Dattatraya said that the social workers and non-government organizations working in tribal areas and outside tribal areas for the welfare of tribal people should be mobilized so that people of these areas can draw maximum benefits of the development schemes of the government.
He was reviewing the progress of Tribal Development Department at Raj Bhawan, today. Appreciating the development plans for tribal areas, the Governor expressed satisfaction over the adequate budget being provided to these areas.
The Commissioner of Tribal Development, Onkar Sharma gave a presentation about the developmental schemes specifically devised for the tribal areas and implementation of these schemes. He said that the tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh, though sparsely populated, continue to receive special attention of the State government on account of their strategic location and comparative economic backwardness.
Shri Dattatraya also asked to develop a special plan for the tribal areas so that people of these areas do not migrate to other areas and also asked the authorities to review the progress of all works regularly. He also suggested that the culture and language of tribal people should be conserved.
Secretary to Governor, Rakesh Kanwar was also present on the occasion.
