Himachal Pradsh CM presides over meeting of Saksham Gudiya Board

Shimla: The State Government is committed for empowerment of women as they are the integral part of our society and one cannot even imagine welfare of society without their active participation. This was stated by the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over a meeting of Saksham Gudiya Board here today.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the main objective and mandate of the Board was to review the implementation of various schemes, policies and programmes of the Government for protection, safety and empowerment of girls and to make recommendation such as acts, rules, policies and schemes related to womenfolk. He said that all the Departments, Boards and Corporations should be requested to provide information regarding schemes launched by them for the betterment of womenfolk so that they could be publicized and women could be motivated to derive benefits of the schemes being launched for their welfare.

Chief Minister said that access to information regarding Gudia Helpline-1515 should also be shared with the Saksham Gudiya Board by the Police Department. He said that the Board was constituted with an objective of ensuring empowerment of girl child and check crime against them. He directed that Non Official Members of the Board should be nominated at the earliest for its better functioning. He said that NGO and social women must be associated with the Board.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal gave valuable suggestions for strengthening the Saksham Gudiya Board so that it can deliver the services more effectively.

Vice Chairperson, Saksham Gudiya Board Roopa Sharma welcomed the Chief Minister.

Chief Secretary Anil Khachi, Additional Chief Secretary, Social Justice and Empowerment Nisha Singh, Principal Secretary Finance Prabodh Saxena, Secretary, GAD Devesh Kumar, Director Women and Child Welfare Kritika Kulhari, Special Secretary to Chief Minister D.C. Rana and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
