HKU holds Alumni Day 2024 on Foundation Day
March 16th marks the Foundation Day of The University of Hong Kong (HKU). This year, HKU organised the Alumni Day 2024 on Foundation Day, welcoming more than 4,000 alumni and their families back to the campus to explore the new facilities and latest developments of the ten faculties.
At the Kick-off Ceremony held at Loke Yew Hall, HKU President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Xiang Zhang, Council Chairman Ms Priscilla Wong, with Chairman of HKU Foundation Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, together with Deans and representatives of the 10 Faculties, proposed a toast with hundreds of alumni and guests at the ceremony.
Professor Zhang warmly welcomed all alumni and those who travelled to Hong Kong from the mainland and overseas to join this special day and thanked for their continued support to their alma mater,
“Our annual Alumni Day is an opportunity to recognise our story, and reflect on our many achievements, while we look to the future with hope and purpose.”
Professor Zhang named the ‘exciting projects’ at HKU, including the Tech Landmark, new residential halls for staff and students, the Pokfield Campus and the Global Innovation Centre.
“We are confident and excited that these dynamic initiatives by our University will position us for a future without limits.” He said the support and commitment of HKU members and friends would be essential to make it happen.
“Your unwavering support and passion have enabled our transformative projects, and made a positive impact on the world. Your generosity allows us to push the boundaries of knowledge, and inspires a next generation of future-shapers to follow.” Professor Zhang said.
HKU has launched a new Alumni Giving platform to facilitate donations from alumni around the world towards HKU’s research and innovations, student learning, heritage conservations, University development, student scholarships and bursaries.
This was the largest alumni event in recent years, with over 60 events, talks, and interactive activities organised by the Development & Alumni Affairs Office, the ten Faculties, Libraries, and the University Museum and Art Gallery.
