Home Bio-Garden: Ecological activity promoted by UNESCO Peru in the face of the COVID-19 crisis
The current COVID-19 crisis also has an impact on the environment. While emissions from travel and industry have decreased dramatically since the start of the pandemic, pollution has increased due to the use of disposable products. Health care requires returning to single-use packaging. On the other hand, the countries are being less rigorous in the environmental regulations with the objective of promoting the production of the companies and energizing the economy.
Since we all spend most of our time at home, let’s take the opportunity to create small but lasting positive environmental change at our own level.
In this context, UNESCO Peru starts the “Siembro en casa campaign”, whose objective will be to promote bio-gardens at home and generate an environmentally friendly habit. The ecological campaign, which is broadcast on Unesco Peru’s social networks, is aimed at people who have a home garden or who have the initiative to generate one.
“Siembro en casa” will have the collaborations of influencers, ins
titutions and organizations that deal with ecological issues to spread the great challenge. Participants will send a photo of their bio-garden describing the reason why they carry out this activity and will invite more people to join this challenge using the hashtag #SiembroEnCasa.
In addition, through the UNESCO Peru social network, important information will be published that will serve as a guide to the general public for the creation and maintenance of a home vegetable garden.
Finally, the UNESCO Peru team, will join the challenge to contribute and share ecological experiences in front of COVID-19 and thus be able to highlight the green colour in our houses during the closure.
