Honour For University Of Mannheim Professor

For his services to the medical profession, Prof. Dr. Jochen Taupitz was awarded the German Medical Association’s Medal of Honor – the highest award that the medical association can bestow on a non-physician.

In his laudatory speech, the President of the German Medical Association, Prof. Dr. (I) Klaus Reinhardt points out that the German Medical Association has been able to draw on Prof. Taupitz’s expertise in medical law and medical ethics in numerous committees over the past decades. The cooperation was always based on the highest degree of trust. In particular, Prof. Taupitz is linked to the Central Ethics Committee at the German Medical Association like no other: He has been a member since it was founded 27 years ago, a member of the board since 1995 and its chairman since 2019. Taupitz is known far beyond the medical profession for its interdisciplinarity both within the legal sciences and through the inclusion of ethical, scientific and medical findings.
