Horticulture Department hosts farmers’ awareness camp at Jourian

Jammu: Department of Horticulture Thursday organized one day farmers Training/Awareness Camp, under the chairmanship of Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak, here at Jourian.

The camp was held under Agriculture Technology Management Agency(ATMA) in which sixty farmers/Orchardists participated and most of them were women farmers.

During the programme different propagation techniques were demonstrated to the farmers, and the participants were imparted different trainings, including pruning methods of fruit plants.

While addressing the farmers/fruit growers, the Director elaborated the Departmental Schemes and advised them to keep close liaison with the field functionaries of the department to take maximum benefits available under the developmental schemes of the Horticulture Department.

The Director Horticulture also directed the concerned officers of the Horticulture Development to organize more such camps to extend benefit to maximum number of farmers. He also impressed upon women farmers to form Self help groups to create small processing units to become self reliant.

Local ULB member, Kiran Bala also impressed woman farmers to come forward for forming self help group to take maximum benefits of Horticulture Schemes .

District Level Subject Matter Specialist Sanjeev Kumar; District Horticulture Officer, Vijay Kumar and Horticulture Development Officer, Amit Saraf were also present on the occasion.
