Horticulture department Jammu plants 1000 fruit saplings in each district to mark Work Environment Day

 

Jammu: Horticulture department day planted 1000 saplings in each district to mark the Work Environment Day.

The Day was celebrated by the Department in all the districts of Jammu Division on the directions of Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak. The Chief Horticulture Officers planted more than 1000 fruit saplings in their respective districts.

The Director launched the plantation drive at Panchayat Ghar Badyal Brahmana in Jammu district by planting Litchi fruit plants in presence of sarpanch and panches of the concerned Panchayat and also distributed fruit plants among the farmers and advised them to plant fruit plants on scientific lines.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director impressed upon all the participants to generate awareness among masses about the significance of Nature and Environment. He said that purification of the environment is only possible by planting more and more trees. Fruit trees not only make the environment clean but also increase the income of the farmers.

Further, he also briefed farmers about the various central and UT sponsored schemes of the department in detail and asked them to come forward and capitalize on the incentives.

S. Sarbjit Singh, Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu and other officers of the department were also present in the programme.
