HPU marches to semi-final defeating MDU by 10 wickets
Aligarh: In the second quarterfinal match of the North Zone Cricket tournament, played at Athletics Ground of AMU, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla (HPU), comprehensively beat Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak (MDU) by 10 wickets to enter the semi final.
Batting first MDU batsman struggled from the first ball and gave away meekly to Karan’s pace in general, who was at his aggressive best grabbing six wickets in just four overs. Without troubling the score board much, MDU were bundled out in just seven overs and three balls with only 37 runs.
In the league match played at Willingdon Pavilion, the University of Delhi (DU, Delhi) annihilated Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur (CSJMU) to win the match by nine wickets in just 12.3 overs. Battling first CSJMU could manage only 71 runs losing all its wickets in 19.4 overs which DU chased easily losing just one wicket.
Price Chowdhary was the main bowler for DU, who finished with impressive figure of three wickets giving away just eleven runs. Shubham Dahiya contributed 27 runs off 35 balls for UD and Sundram Dixit scored 23 runs off 49 for CSJMU.
At Aligarh Sports Association ground Jamia Hamdard, Delhi (JH) lost their match by 51 runs to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Delhi. After winning the toss JH chose to bowl first restricted GGSIPU to 121 runs in 19.1 overs, thanks to first hattrck of the tournament from Akib who took 3 wickets.
Chasing the total Jamia Hamdard were bowled out for 70 runs in 17.1 overs. Vishal was the most successful bowler for GGSIPU who took thee wickets for six runs.
