“HR should evolve and adapt”: Dr Pon Mohaideen Pitchai at the launch of his book ‘HR Seen & Unseen – Untold Stories’ at IIM Bangalore
Bengaluru: The Organizational Behavior & Human Resources Management area at IIM Bangalore hosted the launch of a book titled, ‘HR Seen & Unseen – Untold Stories’, by Dr. Pon Mohaideen Pitchai
The book was launched in the presence of its author Dr. Pon Mohaideen Pitchai; Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIM Bangalore; Prof. Gopal Mahapatra, Chairperson and faculty, Organizational Behavior & Human Resources Management area of IIMB, as well as other faculty, students and staff of IIMB.
The book includes perspectives on corporate experiences, HR processes and HR implementation, coupled with case studies, solutions, lessons learnt and best practices, based on the author’s own industry experience.
Dr. Pon Mohaideen Pitchai has 40 years of experience in HR management and consulting across industries and domains of construction, MEP, power, retail, mall management, banking and finance, oil and gas, part operation and management, trading and shipping, commercial services, telecommunications, real estate, and education services.
Speaking about his book, Dr Pitchai said, “The idea of the book, which is meant for managers and students of HR, is to examine how HR should evolve and adapt. HR is not about policies and procedures and performance management. It is about strategic people management and innovation.”
He spoke of “forgotten communities” among the workforce in countries like UAE and Singapore, the need to respect core competencies irrespective of job titles, and the true meaning of organisational behaviour, development and growth.
In his address, Prof. RT Krishnan said Dr Pitchai’s book examines many important questions on how organisations are managed. Drawing parallels with the questions raised by Sridhar Vembu, CEO of Zoho Corporation, and Dr Pitchai in the book, he said a student of organizational behaviour should be motivated to explore such issues in their research.
