HWVO conducts workshop for Children at Shopian

SHOPIAN : The District Magistrate (DM) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today presided over the workshop titled ‘Alternate care mechanism’ for Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP) and Standards of Care in CCIs.

The workshop was organised by the Human Welfare Voluntary Organisation (HWVO), supported by UNICEF at Mini Secretariat Arhama, here.

On the occasion, the DM said that the mission is to reach out to the disadvantaged and to work for the welfare of the underprivileged section of the community including orphans, widows and destitute.

He said that to ensure optimal development for all children, there is a need to create a planned curriculum framework, encompassing developmentally appropriate knowledge and skills, with flexibility for contextualization and diverse needs of young children.

A curriculum framework is also required to ensure that important learning areas are covered, taking care of all the developmental needs of the young child.

The purpose of this framework is to promote quality and excellence in early childhood education by providing guidelines for practices that would promote optimum learning and development of all young children and set out the broad arrangement of approaches and experiences rather than detailed defining of the content.

However, the programmes should be based on the curriculum principles and guidelines laid down in this framework.

The DM further added that our endeavor is to take this mission ahead by facilitating them better life with dignity wherein orphans, widows & other destitute live an honourable and happy life while having minimum levels of subsistence besides access to shelter, education & healthcare facilities.
