ICAR-RCER, Patna celebrates 78th Independence Day with enthusiasm

The ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna celebrated the 78th Independence Day with fervour and zeal. The entire campus was decorated with attractive lights and flags. Dr. Anup Das, Director, ICAR-RCER, Patna hoisted the national flag and congratulated all the employees of the institute on the occasion of 78th Independence Day. Dr. Das said that the theme for this year’s Independence Day is “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.

Dr. Das said that 77 years have passed since we got independence. Today is the day to remember those brave souls who sacrificed their lives for the country. We pay tribute to our country’s countless martyrs and freedom fighters. Also, we salute the soldiers of our country who are deployed in the security of the  borders and serving all day and night for the nation under extraordinary challenges, we are proud of them. At the same time, we pay our deepest gratitude to our anndata who are securing our lives through food and nutritional security.

In his speech, Dr. Das said that two varieties developed by our institute i.e. 1. Rice variety Swarna Purvi Dhan-5 and 2. Bael Variety Swarna Vasudha were released by the Hon’ble PM of India on August 11, 2024 along with 109 varities from the ICAR-IARI farm, New Delhi. These varieties will be highly useful in achieving food and nutritional security of our country in a changing climate. Dr. Das reminded all the staff about the commitment of the institute for achieving100 days and 5 years target. “We will celebrate the 25th foundation day of our institute next year. Let us all stand shoulder to shoulder and do something unique for our anndata so that the success of our institute echoes across the nation”, said Dr. Das.

Under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, he requested everyone to plant as many trees as possible. “Let us all take a pledge that we will uphold the spirit of brotherhood and goodwill in our society, to work together and to build a developed and prosperous nation. We must take the initiatives of Clean & Green campus and Zero Food Wastage seriously and share this message with everyone we meet”, added Dr. Das. On this occasion, the students of IARI Patna Hub won everyone’s hearts with the patriotic song sandeshe aate hain .
