ICDS Project organises BBBP awareness program at Sundrani
Udhampur: To sensitize the common people about ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project Udhampur, in convergence with other allied departments organized a day long awareness programme at Panchayat Sundrani Block Tikri.
District Development Council Chairperson, Udhampur, Lal Chand was the chief guest, while DDC member Tikri, Ashu Sharma, DDC member, Majalta, Amit Sharma, DDC member Latti-Marothi, Pinky Devi also participated in the programme.
Programme Officer, ICDS, Attar Chand, who is also the Nodal Officer of BBBP, briefed about the annual action plan under the scheme and the interventions like mass awareness campaign, capacity building and multi sectoral interventions made at various levels to improve the Child Sex Ratio.
The PO said that the main objective of organizing this programme is to create awareness among the common masses about core objectives of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairperson congratulated all the participants, who participated in the programme and asked to generate awareness among the masses. He said that the main objective of organizing this awareness campaign is to abolish different types of social discrimination and exploitation that were faced by the girls. He said that now-a -days girls are competing with the boys in each and every field
Reflecting on the education of the girl child, he said that the education key for empowerment of Girls and get their voice heard in society. He added that such awareness programmes would help in ensuring empowerment of women through education and equal participation in all the fields besides preventing gender biased sex selective elimination of girl child.
CDPO, Yashpal Sharma and District Women Welfare Officer, Mahila Shakti Kendra, Jyoti Pathania also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of Poshan Abhiyan, and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.
They said that such campaigns by the project would address the diminishing child sex ratio, CSR and other issues related to women empowerment. They further added that coordinated and convergent efforts are needed to ensure survival, protection and empowerment of the girl child.
Later, the chief guest also distributed mamta kits among the beneficiaries on the occasion.
Among others, Sarpanch Sundrani, Pawan Kumar and other officers/officials of concerned departments besides supervisors, Anganwadi workers, ASHAs and field staff were present on the occasion.
