IEC University Himachal Pradesh to provide free education to students who have lost their sole earning parent
New Delhi : Responding to widespread personal and financial crisis caused by unprecedented Corona pandemic and to show solidarity with the national resolve, the famed IEC University has taken a suo moto decision to provide free education to talented students who have lost their sole earning parents due to COVID-19.
As is well known, due to COVID pandemic, thousands of children all over India have been left orphaned while the number of children losing their sole earning parents could be many times over. A good number of talented students in this category may find it extremely difficult to pursue or continue their higher studies and may have to abandon their dreams of a good career.
Responding to this unfortunate scenario, the management of IEC University has taken a suo moto decision to provide free education to many such students at its university after screening their current family and financial status and their academic suitability. But once a student is found eligible and suitable, he or she will be given 100 percent financial support by the university to ensure they complete their education and rebuild their lives. University is also committed to support them to find suitable career opportunities upon course completion.
“As a nation, we are in the midst of an unprecedented situation, and it is the duty of every institution to do their bit to strengthen the nation and affected people in this hour of crisis. This should be our national resolve too. So, in our humble way, we have decided to provide free education and career support to talented students who have lost their sole earning parents due to COVID. This will help rebuild lives and allow dreams to live on,” said a senior official of IEC University. This noble step is the latest in a series of many social and community initiatives taken by IEC University in recent months.
To begin with, IECU had opened its famed skill development and training centres to external students, i.e students enrolled with other universities and institutions, to make them industry ready. This was soon followed by helping external candidates find suitable jobs by inviting them to participate in interviews with top corporate houses. During the last interview session scheduled for placements, nearly 40 external candidates were offered jobs by various corporate houses.
