IIA Calcutta Chapter hosted its 30th Annual Conference at Kolkata

Kolkata: The Institute of Internal Auditors India Calcutta Chapter organized its 30th Annual Conference at the Taj Bengal today. Dr. Kunal Sarkar, renowned Cardiac Surgeon, inaugurated the session. Prominent speakers at the session included Ms Uma Prakash, President IIA India, Mr. Ajit Kumar Paul, President, IIA Bangladesh, Amitava Saha, Secretary, IIA Bangladesh, CA (Dr) Debasis Mitra, Immediate Past President ICAI and other dignitaries from the corporate world.

 

Mr. Suman Chaudhury, President, IIA CC, said “The theme Sustainability and Survival of Internal Audit is extremely relevant today in this age of disruptive technologies -the entire Community of Internal Auditors need to gear up to the changing needs and embrace the innovations”.

 

Around 200 delegates attended the session. Several delegates reiterated the need for workshops to spread awareness about the new technologies like AI and Block chain and how to apply those in Internal Audit. Mr. Debshish Ghosh, Chairperson – Conference Committee, IIA India Calcutta Chapter said that the Institute is planning to conduct such workshops in the near future.

 

The Institute of Internal Auditors (theiia.org) is the internal audit profession’s global voice, recognized authority, acknowledged leader, chief advocate, and principal educator. Established in 1941, The IIA today serves more than 2,00,000 members from more than 190 countries and territories. The association’s global headquarters is in Lake Mary, Florida, USA. The CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) is the flagship certification course offered by the IIA, followed by other widely recognized and niche courses like CRMA, QIAL, CPEA and CPSA.

 

The IIA India (iiaindia.co) is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to the advancement and development of the internal auditing profession in India. Presently IIA India has six chapters located in Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai.

 

The IIA India – Calcutta chapter was established in 1974; having office at Elgin Road, Kolkata. Having more than 400 professionals as members, the Chapter is vibrant and acclaimed for regularly holding seminars, audit conclaves, round tables, networking events and training programs attended by champions of the industry, senior members of the profession and representatives from various Chambers of Commerce. Guwahati, Bhubaneswar and Tatanagar Audit Clubs are located within the domain of Calcutta Chapter.
