IIITB conferred A+ grading by NAAC
The institute has been awarded A+ Grade with a CGPA of 3.37 for excellence across seven performance indicators
Bengaluru : International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIITB) has been conferred an A+ grade with a cumulative grade point average of 3.37 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). NAAC announced the results on December 21, 2021. IIITB has improved its previous CGPA score from 3.08 to 3.37 despite the challenges institutions have faced over the past year, to ensure continuity in learning, using virtual mediums. This is the second cycle of NAAC accreditation for the institute.
NAAC’s A+ grade serves as a ‘Very Good performance’ indicator and certifies IIITB for excellence across seven parameters. This includes Teaching-learning and evaluation; Curricular aspect; Infrastructure and learning resources; Governance, leadership and management; Research, innovation and extension; Student support and progression; and Institutional values and best practices.
Professor Debabrata Das, Director, IIITB said, “The A+ grade accorded by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council is a reaffirmation of the institute’s enduring commitment to all-round excellence in quality teaching and research, governance, leadership, cutting edge curriculum and innovation. The overall team effort to ensure affirmative student support and learning backed by robust institutional values and best practices has resulted in this superlative performance.”
“We are extremely happy that NAAC has recognized IIITB in the A+ grade category based on an extensive evaluation and 360-degree review by an expert committee. It is also gratifying to know the collective efforts of all teams at IIITB have been acknowledged with this grade,” added Professor Chandrashekar Ramanathan, Professor & Dean (Academics) & Faculty-in-charge Computing, IIITB.
IIITB has set up a functional Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) to continuously sustain and improve academic and research quality, following the institute’s first accreditation cycle in May 2014, where the institute received an A grade with a 3.08 CGPA. With a vision to further technological innovation for the betterment of humankind, IIITB houses several Centers of Excellence (CoE) such as E-Health Research Center (EHRC), Machine Intelligence and Robotics Center (MINRO), Center for Information Technology and Public Policy (CITAPP), Cognitive Computing Centre of Excellence, and Innovation Center for students as well as faculty. With a thumping score of 3.37 out of 4, the institute is poised for a growth envisaged to cater to the new National Education Policy and the rapidly changing industry requirements.
