IIM Amritsar Conducted a Short-term MDP on Business Communication for HPCL

Amritsar: IIM Amritsar conducted a short-term Business Communication Management Development Program (MDP) titled Communicating with Happiness customized for the senior officers of HPCL between September 8 and September 21. This customized program for 45 officers of HPCL ends on September 21. The emphasis of this MDP lay on enhancing participants’ communication awareness and skills by imbibing techniques of effective spoken and written communication, by learning how to balance empathic and assertive communication; and by aiming to be more inspiring and persuasive communicators. The program objectives included learning professional communication competencies to influence and persuade internal and external stakeholders and practising communication techniques and strategies aimed at diverse communication scenarios.

Shri Subodh Batra, Executive Director (I/C)- The Supplies, Operations & Distribution (SOD) SBU of HPCL, inaugurated this MDP and addressed the participants. In his inaugural address, Shri Batra shared his experience of attending similar programs and explained how these programs benefit employees and their organizations. He emphasized that when employees remain happy, they deliver happiness to all their stakeholders. In the inaugural event, Dr Bichitra Kumar Behura, GM- Training, SOD SBU; Sh Nikhil Verma, DGM-Capability Building; Sh Yogesh Gupta, Manager – Capability Building, Corporate Training Department and Sh Chandan Kumar, Manager Operations, SOD SBU were also present. In the inaugural event, Prof. Vartika Dutta, Chair, Executive Education, also addressed the participants and presented an overview of executive education programs conducted by IIM Amritsar in the recent past. The other dignitaries from IIM Amritsar included Prof. Mahima Gupta, MBA Chairperson and Prof. Ranjan Kumar and Prof. Mukesh Kumar, Program Directors of the MDP.

The diverse mix of participants in this MDP will provide a platform to share varied best practices. The program was conducted virtually via Zoom and was facilitated by distinguished professors of IIM Amritsar from Marketing & Communications and OB & HR areas.
