IIM Amritsar Kicks off International Conference on Management of MSMEs 2023
Amritsar: Indian Institute of Management, Amritsar successfully inaugurated the second edition of the International Conference on Management of MSMEs (ICMM 2023) on 20 January 2023. The inauguration was held at Hotel Courtyard by Marriott, Amritsar, and was attended upon by various delegates from the government, industry, and the academia. The ceremonial lamp was lit by Dr Nagarajan Ramamoorthy, Director, IIM Amritsar, in the presence of Dr Aswathy Asokan Ajitha, Chairperson, ICMM’23, Dr Sunil Reddy Kunduru, Assistant Professor, IT and Computational Systems and Member, ICMM Organizing team, and other dignitaries. The conference will go on till 22 January 2023.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Fostering an Innovation Ecosystem”, aimed at bringing out the various dimensions of the problems in innovation ecosystems, focusing on the role MSMEs could play in these ecosystems. The conference, apart from paper presentations from more than 70 registered participants, will also host 3 panel discussions, 1 workshop, and 1 ministry-academia interaction. Forging a connection between the 3 key stakeholders- the ministry, the industry, and the academia, is one of the key agendas of the conference.
The first panel discussion was on the theme “Fostering an Innovation Ecosystem in Indian MSMEs: The Role of Government and Public Policy”. The panel was moderated by Prof Chetan Chitre, Assistant Professor, Indian Institute of Management Amritsar. The other esteemed panellists were Sh Ateesh Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary (AFI), Ministry of MSME; Mr Ajay Prasad Shrivastava, Director, Software Technology Park of India, Mohali; Mr Mahesh Dayani, Chief Business Officer, Small Business Finance Corporation; and Mr Rakesh Jain, Chairman, Youth Entrepreneurship and Skilling (YES) Cell- MSME & Startup Forum- Bharat.
Apart from the academic tracks, the second day will consist of 2 panel discussions; one on career and entrepreneurial opportunities in the MSME sector, and another on Innovation and Start-up Ecosystem. The participants will be treated to a guided visit to the Attari-Wagah Border and a Gala Dinner at the end of Day 2.
