IIM Amritsar successfully concludes the first edition of Confluence – The Cultural and Educational Exchange between MBA and EMBA

IIM Amritsar is hosting its first batch of EMBA at Hyatt Regency, Amritsar, as a part of their hybrid course. In order to facilitate the cultural and educational exchange between the MBA, MBA-BA, MBA-HR, and the EMBA batches, the institute conducted Confluence’21. The event was a mix of academic and fun activities arranged by the students of MBA-06 for the EMBA batch.

It started with Ms. Yamini Deepshikha (MBA-06) welcoming the EMBA participants to the holy city of Amritsar and to the Holy IIM. The participants were enthused about having this offline interaction and expressed how the energy of both the students and the professors increases manifold in the offline set up. Ms. Yamini then went on to explain the importance of various committees and clubs at the institute post which Mr. Rohit Solanki (MBA-06) shared his experience of winning the MI Summit 2.0.

The event was taken ahead by Mr. Praveen Kumar (MBA-06) who introduced the Industry Interaction Cell and gave a detailed presentation about the functions of the committee. IIC acts as a bridge between the industry and the students of IIM Amritsar. He talked about the various conclaves and guest lecture series hosted by IIC. Up next, the academic clubs of the institute had collaborated on a quiz that catered to the domains of operations, analytics, finance, HR, strategy and consulting, marketing, and entrepreneurship. The quiz was hosted by Ms. Anjali (MBA-06), Ms. Shaivali Barve (MBA-06), and Mr. Vishal S. (MBA-06). The quiz ended with the EMBA participants sharing experiences from their professional journey facilitating immense learning.

Further, stressing on the importance of corporate social responsibility, Mr. Nikhil Kumar Banothu (MBA-06) and Ms. Shreya Dharmale introduced Sankalp – The Social Service Club of IIM Amritsar. They explained why it was necessary to inculcate the idea of giving back to the society in aspiring managers and took the audience through the journey of Sankalp which invited a huge round of applause from the audience. Ms. Monima Chowdhury represented the Alumni Committee of the institute and talked about the initiatives of the committee. She also announced the launch of an exclusive alumni portal soon. The Alumni Committee also shared the experiences of Ms. Debdutta Barman (PGP-05) and Mr. Prasoon Malik (PGP-03) via recorded video messages. The addresses were focused on how IIM Amritsar has played a pivotal role in the professional journey of both the individuals.

The evening was made lighter by the amazing stand-up and mimicry performance by Mr. Vishal Gupta (MBA-07). The audience was completely awestruck by his talent. Not only this, the performance by Asur – The band of IIM Amritsar, left everyone up and clapping to the tunes of some evergreen melodies. Seeing some participation from the EMBA batch, there was a solo singing performance by Mr. Anirban Meghamala followed by an open stage karaoke session.

The crowd was very enthusiastic and participative and the evening came to an end with a video showcasing the journey of IIM Amritsar till date that made the EMBA participants feel a sense of pride and belonging towards the institute.
