Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna, on May 23, 2023. The MoU was signed by Dr. Vinita S. Sahay, Director, IIM Bodh Gaya, and Dr. Bindey Kumar, Director, IGIMS.
IIM Bodh Gaya offers MBA, IPM, Ph.D., and short and long-duration Executive Education programmes and has recently launched two full-time residential MBA programmes, MBA in Hospital & Healthcare Management and MBA in Digital Business Management.
The MBA in Hospital & Healthcare Management programme which will start from June 2023 will have a curriculum and pedagogy that addresses the rising demand for professionally trained personnel to fill managerial and leadership positions in various healthcare industry segments. The students will be guided by the programme’s Industry Advisory Board, comprised of senior leaders from globally renowned companies. The programme will offer participants a unique hands-on learning experience through a four-month immersion in the industry.
IGIMS is an autonomous institute established in 1983 on the pattern of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. It is a public medical institute and hospital which delivers world-class medical education and training at graduate and postgraduate levels, along with modern healthcare facilities in the specialized area of Cancer and Eye Care.
Keeping this in mind, these two institutes have partnered to deliver joint academic programmes, organize international conferences, seminars, and symposiums, and co-host customized training programmes designed, developed, and delivered exclusively for healthcare professionals.
The MOU intends to facilitate collaboration for the advancement of knowledge and its application in practice based on reciprocity, best effort, mutual benefit, and frequent interaction. This collaboration extends to conceptualizing and developing short-term and long-term programmes, course content and modules, organizing courses, and awarding co-branded certificates in domains like Business Analytics, IoT, Big data, AI and Machine Learning, and Blockchain in Healthcare Management, among others.
The institutes also agreed to organize an annual joint International Conference on Healthcare Management and signed agreements for faculty exchange, faculty development programmes, collaborative research, and joint publications. In addition, they agreed to create reference materials, training methods, and services, provide advisory/consulting services to national and international organizations, and strengthen healthcare startup and entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Prof. Mohammed Laeequddin, Chairperson, Executive Education & Consulting, IIM Bodh Gaya stated that this MoU will help MBA (HHM) to get hands-on practical exposure in public health and would help IIM Bodh Gaya faculty to train doctors at IGIMS Patna in the field of Management.
Dr. Manish Mondal, the Superintendent of IGIMS, stated that a variety of themes would be collaboratively explored by both the institutes as per the demands of the modern healthcare industry.
Several other faculties and officials from both the institutes were present on the occasion.
