IIM Calcutta Innovation Park signs MoU with West Bengal State Council of Science & Technology

Kolkata: IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP), one of the leading technology and business incubators in India under the aegis of IIM Calcutta, has signed a MoU with West Bengal State Council of Science & Technology, Department of Science & Technology and Biotechnology (WB-SCST), to promote entrepreneurship in the areas of Science and Technology in the State. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri Bratya Basu, Minister, Science and Technology and Biotechnology Department, Govt of West Bengal and Dr Subhrangshu Sanyal CEO of IIMCIP and Prof. Anju Seth, Director of IIM Calcutta.

The agreement will consist of a series of programs and activities that would help in identifying and nurturing S&T entrepreneurial talent in West Bengal. IIMCIP will act as a ‘Knowledge Partner’ in the West Bengal’s S&T driven Entrepreneurship Development efforts, by supporting various activities that would encourage, train, recognize, reward and nurture budding entrepreneurs of West Bengal, and undertake capacity building among relevant Government Officials, Trainers, Entrepreneurs and others so as to gradually help develop an entrepreneurial culture in the state of West Bengal. The initial focus will be directed towards structuring and implementing initiatives such as West Bengal S&T Entrepreneurship Hunt, Pre-Incubation for aspiring S&T entrepreneurs, Incubation and commercialization of S&T entrepreneurs.
Speaking at this ceremonious event, Prof. Anju Seth, Director of IIM Calcutta, said, “We are delighted to collaborate with the state with this new MOU to ignite and nurture entrepreneurship that leverages science and technology for the continued growth and progress of West Bengal. The inspiration and assistance envisaged under this program will not only energize our talented youth to spur scientific advancements for entrepreneurial solutions to social challenges but also assist to scale these solutions and build capacities to reach a larger part of the population for the success of their business ventures. IIM Calcutta and IIM Calcutta Innovation Park are happy to traverse the Bengal entrepreneurial journey hand-in-hand with the Government of West Bengal in now extending our legacy partnership with the Department of Micro Small & Medium Enterprises and Textiles (MSME&T) that launched ‘Shilpa Abhijan’- a movement to foster district level entrepreneurship in West Bengal.”

IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, CEO, Dr Subhrangshu Sanyal said: “IIM Calcutta Innovation Park and the West Bengal State Council of Science & Technology have worked together as a team and conceptualized this ambitious initiative that has the potential to create large scale socio-economic impact in the state, leveraging entrepreneurship and innovation. The program aims at commercialization of science and technology innovation by creating awareness and providing necessary handholding support to the innovators.”

IIMCIP has worked extensively towards developing entrepreneurship in Eastern & North-Eastern States of India, also Social Entrepreneurship across India. They have collaborated with state governments of West Bengal, Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya, & Arunachal Pradesh, and reputed Corporate Organizations like the Tata Group, to foster Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
