IIM Calcutta to Organize Entrepreneurship weekend ‘The Startup Fest’ for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
Kolkata: IIM Calcutta is all set to kickstart its Entrepreneurship weekend for young and aspiring entrepreneurs. The Startup Fest presented by the Entrepreneurship Cell of IIM Calcutta in cooperation with IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, will be held at the IIM C Campus on November 17th & 18th, 2018.
Entrepreneurship weekend is the flagship event focused solely on building an Entrepreneurial India. The event is open to all the aspirants from across India to share their ideas and learn from the seniors who have walked the entrepreneurial path before. The weekend will see a lot of events promoting entrepreneurial culture, help people learn the various skills required and increasing its awareness across India. The event will be driven by major speakers from diverse sectors and further interaction through panel discussions is planned out.
Commenting on the event, Mr. Gaurav Kapoor, Head Invent, IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, IIM C, says, “I2I and E-Summit are flagship events organised jointly by the ECell of IIM Calcutta and the IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, the business incubator of IIM Calcutta. With a 12 year old legacy, these events enthuse the youth to take up entrepreneurship as a career option. The participation has been growing every year and the quality of startups that pitch at I2I has evolved over time. The E-Summit has seen some prolific speakers and panelists from the startup ecosystem inspiring the youth that flock in large numbers to soak in their entrepreneurial journey. This year we expect a very large turnout of students from various colleges at the E-Summit, which will be featuring some exciting stories from the East.”
The first day of the 2 days event will see activities like, i2i – Ideas to Implementation, one of the best B-plan competitions across all the B-schools in the country, encouraging people and supports them by helping them present their ideas on this influential platform and also grab the opportunity to turn these ideas into reality. The panel judging the ideas will consist of entrepreneurs, investors, industry experts and professors. This intense competition will take place amongst a final of 15 teams across India, shortlisted from among 1000+ participants.
This event is followed by a Triathlon, a Quiz, Investor’s Debate & an Elevator Pitch conducted back to back, with participants screened & evaluated across events. These ideas will be evaluated by the jury consisting of entrepreneurs, professors and E-Cell committee. The competition will be held among more than 100 participants, and every round will screen and retain the top performers, who will be expected to perform better the next time to become the final winner.
The second day will see the grand celebration of entrepreneurship & is all about promoting this culture amongst the Indian youth to motivate and provide the resources necessary to make their ideas into realities.
The day will start off with the most awaited entrepreneurship event in Eastern India, E-Summit – 2018. Apprentice entrepreneurs will speak about their entrepreneurial journey and will guide all the budding entrepreneurs about the challenges and milestones. The speakers for the E-Summit include names like, Abhay Tandon of Ab InBev, Navika Kumar of Times Now, Bhavjot Kaur of Clinikk.
The grand event will be followed by a music concert from an entrepreneurial band, Rudraraksha, helping the young minds relax and enjoy the finale of E-Summit, 2018.
